The Pescadero Education Foundation's History

Initially, the Pescadero Education Foundation was a fundraising committee formed under the umbrella of South Coast Children's Services in 1994. The initial group was made up of teachers, parents, members of the school board, and others who wanted to improve the school campus.

The first project that the group raised money for was the playground at the Pescadero Elementary School. PEF pooled resources with the school district, and PTA to raise money to build a new playground.

Eventually, the school district faced a crisis, because of reduced state funding. PEF was asked to raise money to help pay for teaching staff. At this point, PEF became its own non-profit organization.

Today, The Pescadero Education Foundation supports enrichment programs for the elementary and middle schools. During the 2009-2010 school year, PEF sponsors the following programs:

PEF works closely with the school administration to make sure that we are helping support the children of our school district with programs that support the school's priorities. Over the years, everyone who has served on the PEF board has made incredible contributions that help make the educational experience that our students have, one that allows them to get a sense of the bigger world around them.
